Engineering Lead — Backend, Infrastructure & DevOps

identity and access platforms, platform architecture, production infrastructure

Istanbul, Turkey · [email protected] · LinkedIn

Backend, Infrastructure and DevOps Lead at a supply-chain planning SaaS vendor, in formal team leadership since February 2019 — seven and a half years. I lead three functions, reporting to the VP of Software Engineering, and have absorbed two more with no added headcount: production database ownership across every customer-facing server, and test and CI. Four engineers report to me and I own their performance evaluations. Fifteen years on .NET, twelve of them here, serving 18 enterprise end customers: I founded the dashboard API platform, took over the identity and access platform in 2019 and remain its principal contributor, and designed how autonomous agents are authorized. The first three years were client delivery at two digital agencies.

Backend - Infra & DevOps Lead

02/2019 - Present

Reporting to the VP of Software Engineering. Held this leadership role continuously since 02/2019, latterly under the current title.

  • Lead the Backend, Infrastructure and DevOps function. Four engineers report to me across three disciplines and I own their performance evaluations; of five positions, one is vacant after an exit I decided and carried through.
  • Took over the company's identity and access platform in 2019 — the single sign-on provider for a product serving 18 enterprise customers — and have been its principal contributor since: the authorization server, the admin API, the user-management front end, federation with external identity providers, and the multi-tenant claim model. My share has risen from 30% of its history to 43% over the last three years.
  • Designed how autonomous agents are authorized on the platform: delegation rather than impersonation, so an agent acting for a person carries a readable record of who delegated to it, cannot exceed that person's rights, and stays inside one customer's data at the moment it acts. Built, tested and working; the last audit found nothing exposed in production. The surrounding agent platform was built with the team.
  • Absorbed two specialist functions as they were vacated, neither with added headcount: production database ownership for every customer-facing server and database — backup and recovery strategy, index maintenance, capacity — and the test and CI function.
  • Modernized the identity stack across every system that consumes it. Where a dependency could not be patched, accepted the residual risk in writing, with a mitigation and a review trigger.
  • Core maintainer and release gatekeeper of the company's job-orchestration platform, and integration owner for an ETL estate of 80+ integration modules.
  • Own a multi-region AWS, source-control and CI estate, including a self-hosted CI runner fleet.

Senior .NET Developer

05/2014 - 02/2019
  • Founded the dashboard API platform — its first commit is mine (03/2017) — and remain its top contributor of 29 after contributing in ten consecutive years: 54 projects and 23 pluggable data-access adapters over SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, CloudWatch, GIS, Jira and run-management back ends.
  • Designed the platform's tenant isolation: a separate data connection per customer and environment, resolved from the caller's token at request time, with a customer discriminator applied across the shared control plane.
  • Top contributor of 49 to the customer-facing planning web application, with commits in every calendar year from 2014 to 2026.
  • Originated the event-monitor Windows service that still runs the platform's scheduled workflow, scenario and notification jobs.
